Careers Education and Guidance is very important in your early years at School.
The Government is recommending that there will be Careers input in Years 7 & 8.

In Year 8
You will have to make your subject choices for GCSE. It is important that you keep as broad a range of subjects as possible over and above the Core Subjects –

You will be given the opportunity to use Fast Tomato.

In Year 9

There will be the opportunity for contacts with other organisations e.g.Smallpeice and Engineering Experience. |
You will be given the opportunity to use Fast Tomato.

In Year 10

Y10 Work Related Learning week: 29 June - 3 July 2009. This will include:
- 3 Day Army Residential Course
- RAF Familiarisation Week at Cosford
- Smallpeice Engineering Challenge
- Work Tasters
In Year 11
You will be given the opportunity of a one to one interview with a Personal Adviser from Connexions 4 Youth plus Occupational Group work sessions.
To help with Careers Information Research use the Careers Resource Centre at School and get help from Mr Howell.

Once you have completed your GCSEs we also have a Year 11 Options Programme, which consists of:
- A week long residential at a local University to get a taster of University life.

- An Adventure Experience at an Outside Pursuits Centre.

Once you start Year 11 you will be thinking about your next steps after GCSEs for more information see Options 16+.
Year 11 students wanting to partake in work experience need to return the pro forma to Mr Howell in Careers.
There is funding available for Sixth Form students on Further Education study called Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). For more information see EMA website. Contact Mr Howell for more information.
